Monitor Question - multiple ports

If I have a monitor with both HDMI, and VGA, is that switchable?
In other words, can I plug in my computer (VGA) and PS3 (HDMI) into it and switch between them?

I know with a TV you can, but Monitors seem to be cheaper, with higher quality.

Depends on the monitor. Some cheaper monitors just use whatever input they detect first, so you would have to unplug one and plug in the other to get it to switch, but a decent monitor should have some sort of input option/button.

Thats what I thought, but I wasnt too sure.

Also, can I play PS3 on it? I don't think I've ever seen a monitor used for that.
