Monitor Response Times

I'm looking for a new 19" LCD Monitor (used primarily for gaming) and I've heard that if you don't have a "fast" LCD Screen, then there could be some ghosting.

My question is, if there's two 19" displays and the only difference between the two is that one has a 2ms response time and one has a 5ms response time, is it worth paying $50 more for. Would 5ms be too slow for gaming?

Thanks. Also feel free to recommend a monitor (preferably under/near $200)

*Edit* I think I will go with this one. Not only does it have a 2ms response time, but it also has a 3000:1 Contrast Ratio...which is far better than most that I've seen.

it's up to the game you play.fps games MUST think about a 2ms one.
actually many 2ms LCDs ain't more expensive.
I recommend Philips cw8(as if this name), ^_^

As long as I'm running at my monitor's highest/native resolution, I've never noticed ghosting to be an issue. I think mine is only a 7-8ms too. But then again, some people may be more picky than myself.

I'm not too picky....I just want to make sure that I will be satisfied with whatever I get.

you cant trust the advertised response time unless it specifies what type of response time it is. GTG response time is a poor indicator of true response time, the best indicator is Black to White to Black, or Black to white. Generally ghosting is a made up issue and only noticed if you are using an older CRT monitor or a super huge LCD

That monitor looks pretty solid. Most people can't even tell the difference between 2ms and 5ms. Its often just advertising hype, which is why:

That isn't to say there isn't a difference, but most people can't tell.

I know, but on newegg you can usually tell if its GTG by the description.

I have the exact monitor. It is crisp clear and very bright with a DVI-D connection @ 75hz.
I do not notice ghosting when i game (but all i play is CS:S)

hmm maybe I should find a cheaper one...?
Not necessarily. Just do your research, take advantage of the ability to compare products on newegg, and pay attention to the customer reviews. Make sure to read the negative customer reviews, but also take the reviews with a grain of salt, some people don't know what they are talking about. Do that and you'll be satisfied. If you have questions you can always come back here and ask away;)
