Monitor Room

I want to monitor a room via a smartphone and webcam what is the best way to go about this. A friend has suggested that the easiest and cheapest way is via Skype. What do you think?

I think there are some other better programs for doing that (although I don't know them), and according to skype's rules it is illegal to use it for monitoring.

If what Springwater says is correct, they wont unless they look into why your account is having such long video calls., but its against the End User Licence Agreement. Like where Microsoft say "do not make copies of this CD". Nothing stops you but it is against the EULA and if you DO get caught, you will get done for it. Don't risk it. If you were to buy a couple of webcams, you could use something like TwitCam, if you have twitter.
 
My understanding is that with TwitCam the monitored room could be seen by any one else with a Twitter account.
