Monitor selection

I am looking for a lcd monitor. for moderate gamming and usual use. Does response time matter that much? i was looking at dell because i like them and they are 8ms versus an hp 17 inch 13ms. Would i notice a huge difference? im looking at 17 inch. Around 179 or so.

You can easily find 19" lcd models with a 2ms response time on them. For gaming the lower the ms the better in general terms. At present I'm currently running a 17" model with a 12ms ssslowww response time. You can find much better ones for less then this one cost at this time. For a little more you can even grab a wide screen model with a 5ms response time on the Viewsonic model seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116065
 
so i want the lowest "ms" i can get? And i was looking to stay around 17 or 19" and spend around 180.
