I have just installed a graphic card (GeForce FX5500) and plug my monitor in the graphic card port.
However,my monitor shuts down after 1-2 mins. I use a 8SS661FXMP-RZ motherboard which have an integrated video card.
I have try to disable the video card in device manager but the problem continue to persist.
The graphic card works perfectly on my friend's computer who do not have an integrated video card.
Do i have to disable it on the motherboard itself?? I don't know how to do it!! Can anyone help me???

you should only have to disable the onboard video card in device manager.

check the screen refresh rate in display properties

If the FX5500 is PCI, then yes, you must disable it. If it's AGP, the onboard will automatically disable itself.

What are the specs of your power supply? Got a model, or know the amps on the 12v rail?

Here we go with the rails again :)

The refresh rate i wouldnt have thought wouldnt have changed because that is the monitor's rate and not the card's but try and disable the on-board Gfx card and see if that helps, it just might be ignoring your new one and going with the old one :)
