Monitor Size Screwed Up

I have a Xflat KDS 17" monitor. I booted Ubuntu, and it wouldn't load after i logged in. So i hit ctrl+alt+backspace and it went back to the login. Then the size of the screen turned screwy. There is about a 1/2" margin on the top and bottom of the screen, and there's about 3" on either side that isn't visible (off the side.) I can change the top/bottom margin with the built in controls on the monitor. However, when i try to change the left/right margin, nothing happens. Also, there is a very big curve on the screen (windows look like hourglasses). I have tried recal to change the settings back to default, and nothing happens. My desktop doesn't sense that anything is wrong, and i have the same problem when i use it as an external monitor for my laptop. I'm pretty sure something's wrong with my monitor. Does anybody know if i can fix it?
Thanks.

I don't see where you specified if it's a CRT or LCD, nor did you give enough info about the model, so I will assume it's LCD... Does it connect using VGA? If so, have you tried the auto adjust feature?
