Please can you help...

I have a TPG computer (really old) working on an ok.ish hp m70 monitor.

The screen used to look like this

Now it is like this.
)----------(
^ I can't see all of it!!
The start bar is off the screen!

And the setup menu - width does nothing.

PLEASE HELP! :( I have an ATI Cool Graphics Card! Did Nothing :(

On the front of your monitor (or somewhere on it) there are a seires of button (aleast two) these are monitor options and have nothing to do with the computer..somewhere here are some options for the )------( option

the easiest thing to look out for is a factory reset option.. that'll be you quick fix. then you can work your way through the options to get to the geometry section and there you'll be able adjust it to your preference.

Nope...

Sorry, the buttons (MODE/SELECT/-/+) do nothing. I'm not that dumb at computers. Factory reset made it worse.

wow thats quite surprising, try and find the geometry settings and there should be a load of shapes relating to your screen. thats the only way to fix this now. if that doesn't work there's something wrong with your monitor

ok try changing your refresh rate of the monitor to different settings. I've seen CRT monitors do some wierd things at various refresh rates. I had one that looked perfect at 70hz refresh rate but be completely scewed and stretched offscreen at 72hz.

That happened to me! When I had lots of apps open it did it more, I haven't found out what the problem is. Logging off and on again fixes it for me, and putting the refresh rate to 75hz makes it happen less/\.

Yes i'll try that but it is SOOO annoying. I'm using a KVM swith, will that do anything?

I think thats because for each refresh rate, you have to re-strech the image to the screen. Kind of like when you change resulotion, you have to do that too. OR, 72hz wasn't supported. Because usally when you select "view option that this monitor can support" it's like 60,70,75,80hz...
