for your needs i would go lcd with a nice quick response time.

ofcourse with a low response time. because who wnats to see it ghosting when watching a movie, or even move the pointer?

if you have no room and the money, get a nice fast LCD.
if you have plenty of space, a CRT will be just as good :)

I getting this stuff somewhat brand names are not an issue its specs. is what is important. Question is digital imput the way to go ??

Whatever your computer supports is the way to go.

Viewsonic is a good brand, I have "owned" several of LCD and CRT and none have had any problems. Be careful about buying LCD though, you can get ones with dead pixels, which is really annoying.
