Monitor/Video Card Issue

Alright...I am being stumped by this one. I've already reset the motherboard jumpers thinkning that the monitor might've turned itself off. i am now using a known good monitor and a known good pci-e video card swapped from another computer. My monitor still doesnt work. not even the onboard video. i have also tried another pci-e card and another straight pci card. still nothing. if i disconnect the monitor cable, from the computer when the computer is off, the amber light will turn green and tell me to check the connection. Any ideas?
 
i dont even get the boot screen. i have seen this error before when the resolution is too big, but you still get the boot screen then you can go into safe mode and change the resoltion. but no boot screen.
 
is it a bad motherboard? Is there a fix for it other then a new motherboard? i used the original video card from this computer on another computer witht he moniotr and it works fine. so i know its not the monitor or video card

If I'm not mistaking, there's a VGA mode option in the boot menu(the same menu as Safe Mode) Select this then change your resolution to one you know works when the machine boots up.
 
This happened to me, ok, you are probably using the DVI on the PCI E card and it's default setting is the Onboard video. Using the VGA cord connect it straight to the motherboards VGA input. And also take the all video cards out. This is very important. See when change video cards, The computer automatically switches back to your default settings, which was probably your onboard video. So when you have your default settings to onboard video status and are trying to use your Video Card VGA/DVI it doesn't recognize it. But at the same time it is trying to read the video. Very confusing. But all you have to do is take all your video card(s) out and use the onboard video.

alright, tried it, still nothing. I am stumped. Thanks for all the help!! If you have more ideas, keep them coming. A friend of mine said it was a bad mobo. is that true, should i just give up?
