Monitor/Video card problem

I moved my computer recently and when i set it back up my 24 inch gateway monitor displays during boot up and the windows loading screen but after that the screen goes blank and the monitor gets no signal. I have used this gateway monitor for 5 months now but this is the first time i completely shutdown my computer and moved it

This happened to me before and what i did was hook up my original dell monitor and that got a signal so i just went into my video card panel and picked my gateway monitor. The only problem now though is i don't have that dell monitor.

I figure it only recognizes the dell drivers after completely powering down the computer?

Start it up in safe mode so it doesn't use the Dell drivers, it should just use generic ones. In safe mode uninstall the Dell drivers as you don't need them anymore as you don't have the monitor. Then restart and see how you go...See if the works maybe?
