monitor wont turn on

I have 2 sticks of memory (each 512mb), my brother upgraded his and gave me his old memory stick (also 512mb) and now my computer starts up, however the monitor wont turn on (light stays orange), it powers up, works on my other computer so I know it's not the monitor.

I removed the ram he gave me and still not working, the computer doesnt beep or anything, and I have no idea why all of a sudden now it's not working.

The LED light is on, fans work, no beeping, everything seems fine other than my monitor won't kick in. I did not touch the video card or any settings, all i did was insert another stick of ram, monitor didnt turn on, removed the ram, and still nothing.

I did remove my previous ram sticks one by one, then reinserted, reinserted my video card as well, no idea what to do now.....

So you've tried it with only the old RAM you have before upgrading, and it still doesn't work?

Some RAM just isn't compatible with some motherboards, even though it should be, but if it's now not powering up in the same configuration that it was in before it's possible that your old RAM has gone bad from being handled.

i had my 2 sticks in already....
added the new one, monitor didnt work.
removed the new one (original 2 still in) and monitor still didnt work.
then tried each ram one by one, same thing.

so now I have the original 2 sticks in, monitor/computer powers up
everything seems fine, but monitor light stays orange and doesnt kick in.

one other thing I noticed now, the keyboard and mouse lights dont come on when the computer is running. But the dvd/cd lights up, open/closes..... damn wtf?

ok, guess this is bad news... I called my buddy he asked me to do this.

I removed all the ram.

Started up computer.... no beeping.

Removed the Video card, and the ram, no beeping

Removed the battery on motherboard.... no beeping.

He said if wasn't motherboard then would get the beeping noises from
the errors, no memory, video detected etc.....

so he basically said motherboard is toast! that the case?

remove the graphic card and insert again, the problem is probably with the graphic card connecting slot

may be ram problem

try to reconnect all the hardware devices and look carefully is all the device is connect or not???if u still face the problem ?

It depends on the motherboard. Does yours even have a speaker? If not, it's probably not going to beep at all.

Sounds like the motherboard is defective. You could try another video card in the motherboard, but from what you have stated, it sounds like the motherboard is defective.

What are the system specifications of the computer that you are having problems with?
