Monitor won't turn on?

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit and it was idle for a while and I come back to it and the monitor is off. I didn't think anything of it so I (Obviously) attempted to turn it on, it didn't work. I then restarted the computer and the monitor hasn't worked since.

I have already tried unplugging and plugging in the cables

does anyone know what might be going on or a way to fix this?

Thanks,

Have you tried the monitor on another system? You need to verify if its the monitor or the video card.

It wont even turn on. How will I be able to test it on a different system??

I also noticed something when I was fumbling with the cable, the monitor is making this ticking sound in the back. The ticking also stops when I unplug the zip strip, ( i'm thinking it burnt out if that is possible ) like its try to boot up

Ok, that explains it. Its probably a loose wire in the cable or at the connection inside the monitor.

Probably buy a new monitor. Or have someone see if they can find out whats wrong and fix it. But might be cheaper to buy a new one.

well the cable was working just fine until today

I can mess with the cable to see if it will adjust in case it was a bad cable the whole time I just might of not noticed. ( I haven' t had it for too long )

I can now Guarantee that it is the monitor's Connection inside because I went digging in my endless closet of crap :) and I managed to find another monitor and it's power cable. I tested the cable and it did the same crap. So I have a high chance of just buying a new one. More money I don't Have :)
