more ddr2 or less ddr3?

My computer now has 8gb of ddr3 ram (2 4gb sticks) and I want to add more ram from my older computer.
The older computer has a 2gb stick of ddr2 ram. I am aware that the ddr3 ram will act as ddr2 if I use both types at once.
If I use all the ram in my computer will it be better than just the 8gb of ddr3 alone?

Also, the voltage for the ddr3 is 1.5v and the ddr2 is 1.8v, is that a problem?

I'm pretty sure you can't run DDR2 and 3 in the same system because DDR2 RAM sticks physically won't fit into DDR3 slots and vice versa...

8GB of DDR3 is fine. If you could add the 2GB of DDR2 to make 10GB then you wouldn't really see a difference because you're only adding 2GB of RAM and since RAM runs at the speed of the slowest stick, and DDR2 typically runs slower than DDR3, you may even be decreasing the speed of the PC.

DDR3 will not 'act like DDR2 when using both types of slots', it's an either/or type of situation. You may in fact damage the board and/or CPU/IMC trying to run both types concurrently.

Even in boards that had both slots, you could not run both at the same time.

This, really.
