More hard drive used up mean more slower performance of computer?

Just wondering if this is true I installed a bunch of games and downloaded a lot of music about 2gb and when I first bought this computer it ran faster than it does now. I'm using 29.6/87GB. Does it matter by any chance?

It's probably slowed down by all the stuff you've installed since you got it. Disabling anything that runs at startup that you don't need is a good place to start. You can check what starts up by running (start->run) msconfig.

It could also by mal/spyware. Doing a scan is probably a good idea.

The only time you ever hit a huge performance hit on HD space if you are running really low on it and you no longer have any space for virtual memory/swap file.

Generally speaking as long as you keep about 10% of your HD space free you should be golden
