More NTL Upgrades.

On NTL:Hell there was a rimour about mor eupgrades, then today, an NTL employee confirmed it and quoted his email:
From 1st June 2006 ntl:Telewest will cease to offer the 2Mb/s tier of service to new customers. This tier will be replaced with a new 4Mb/s service with an increase in upload speed to 400K.

Existing 2Mb/s customers will be migrated to the new speed by the end of June at no additional cost. The 4Mb/s service is being offered at the same price as the old 2Mb service - ?24.99, which includes free subscription to broadband plus (worth ?7.99 a month)

Changes are also to be made to the 10Mb/s service with the removal of the 75Gb usage allowance.

The new product lineup (from June 1st) will be:

1Mb
Unlimited
?17.99

Now 4Mb (was 2Mb)
Unlimited
?24.99

10Mb
Now Unlimited (was 75Gb p/m)
?34.99

Don't forget 4Mb/s & 10Mb/s customers also receive free subscription to Broadband Plus (?4.99 per month for 1Mb/s customers from June).
Hell Yea! And apparently the removal of the 10mb cap is a sweetner for another 10mb upgrade.

I'm with Telewest and have already been upped from 1MB to a whopping 4MB at no extra cost. Looks like NTL is trying to pick up its feet and catch up with Telewest a bit.

I've got telephone, tv (plus sky movies at no extra cost due to a foulup when taking me off it) and 4MB broadband all for £30 per month!

Lol, yea it does seem that NTL are catching up with everyone else, what with carphone warehouse releaseing free broadband and Telewests upgrades. Which is funny really, because NTL bought Telewest out, although the official merger isnt for about 12 months.

My folks are with NTL for broadband and also tv, and I have to admit the software in their set top boxes are absolutely crap. There's a massive lag when using the mini-browse thing, when you're in the middle of browsing it'll close on you, and there's often stutters and other weird things going on with the picture.

I don't mean to badmouth NTL too much, I mean at one stage they almost went under financially, and they've done a decent catchup job, but if it were an option between NTL and Sky, I'd have to go with Sky every time.

I know pretty off topic, but still comparing the providers to each other. :)

Id choose sky any day of the week. Im only with NTL for broadband, and the only complaint ive got atm, is that during peak hours the speed will drop quite a fair bit. Other then that and there customer service, i cant fault them....too much.

damnit, theyre not upgrading their 1mb broadband :( i was really hoping they would...
Well going from a 3GB cap to unlimited is pretty cool. But yea, i would of expected a speed increase too.`

so does that mean (if it does actually happen) that i'll get my 4mb telewest BB for less?
No, all it means is that whatever tier you were at, you've been moved up a rung. All 4MB customers (originally) are now at 10MB at no extra cost. All the speed increases are here, but they say all the speed increases have now been done, so whatever you're on now, should stay that way.

I share your frustration  They told me that they were upgrading us all to 10Mb/s at one stage...

@ NTL (if they ever read this): Give us 1Mb/s users to of the action too!

I've been an NTL customer for years! The least they could do is give me some sort of speed increase!
