I have 256mb of RAM right now and it is just to slow. I have Dell Insprion 1110 laptop and I want to upgrade it to maybe 512mb because i'm not keeping this toooo much longer, college starts next August. I don't really know anything about what brand, what model goes with my computer, how to install it so can anyone give me an help or information? Thanks in advanced.

Is there a way I can add to the current RAM I have instead of buying a whole new RAM module? I was told by a friend that I could buy something that would add to my 256 to make 512 total.

Whether you go with a 512mb or a 256 dimm you would see an increase in memory. But a 512 would give you a larger total of 768mb there. Since you are planning on dumping the current model next summer I wouldn't spend much.

The reference there was mainly to find out what memory would work in that model since specifications weren't available. The information found shows that this model will not use PC2700 a faster memory there.

Alright I will look for the PC-2100. Does brand matter or if its used?

You will want the same type of memory in order to add to the current. If the original is a single sided dimm that's what you will have to get there. Kind of stay away from the cheapo brands when picking one out. Some brands like Kingston, Corsair, Muskin, Crucial, and a few others have good value ram.
