Morrowind crashing (pc version)

Re-installed this awesome game recently and I'm doing rather well (lvl25 redguard after 250 days (gameplay time, include sleeping etc) with more daedric weapons than you can shake a stick at ).

From the beginning I have been having problems with it crashing sometimes.
This only happens when it tries to save the game (autosave, quicksave or normal save - its all the same) and can be very annoying (lost a daedric warhammer because of it ).

Are there any patches or mods out there that can prevent this?

Crash Is Normal

The morrowind game has a tendency to crash after heavy cheating. I havr it on xbox and it often crashes when loadingm something. or saving something. I used a cheat to make my strength intelligence etc. go up to 2000+ and the game started crashing. i also got infinite levitation and infinite bound weapon and shield. And now th game crashes alot. its "normal" in the game to crash
