Most common computer problems?

I see failing HD's at work more than anything, almost 3 of 4 computers that come in have a failing HD. They can cause freezing, random restarts, missing files, programs not functioning properly, os not booting etc.

Most common problem I see at work are virus' (Mainly XP Antivirus 08/09) and bootloops due to bad sectors on the HDD.

For the virus' I use Malware Bytes to remove them or I either attach the HDD to my laptop via IDE->USB and scan it with Avast!

For the bootloops, I use Seatools HDD Test and repair bad sectors, then run a windows chkdsk in the recovery console.

you also have power supplies and video cards, those are pretty common

What are the symptoms when those go bad? I'm assuming the computer doesn't turn on if the power supply is bad and there is nothing on the monitor if the video card is bad. Am I right and are there other symptoms besides those if I am right?

With video cards, you either get no video or your video has lines, streaks, and distortion in the image.

if you have a power supply malfunction, you can have partial power (fans and leds light up, no signal) or a complete malfunction (nothing... self explanatory)

i see alot of blue screens of deaths were you cannot boot your computer, but alot of the time that is because of your harddrive
