Most dependable motherboard makers?

In prior years, I used Intel motherboards (more than 5 years ago).

These as it turned out were fairly reliable, lasting more than 5 years.
While I'm aware others may disagree (wasn't somebody else manufacturing their boards just prior to their downfall?)

As the game has changed so much, and intel no longer makes boards,
what are the most dependable brands when it comes to years of reliable service?

Which do you favor?
I generally use Asus, however I've recently used EVGA as well. The important thing to remember is don't buy the cheapest motherboard possible, the extreme low end ones usually have some pitfalls, hence their low price.

Yes, can compromise the whole system.

Another reason for this thread, is for images of the OS - maybe I should have asked ..."makers who as well put out boards that have a reputation of continuous manufacturing cycles, i.e; board models that have a decent chance of being replaceable in the years to come. So image files can be mounted for a restore. Same for clones, etc

Used to be only Asus years ago, but now I only buy Gigabyte.

EVGA currently doesn't make AMD boards only Intel.

Problem being you really can't clone or image systems if you plan on deploying them on a different motherboard then original as it has different hardware but mainly chipset and will cause either blue screen or boot loops at startup.

I didn't see this mentioned in the OP anywhere that he was asking specifically about AMD capable motherboards.

And on this same note, I'm not sure if Intel boards are still being put out.

In the original thread, was going by a period when they stopped making them not too long ago.

I haven't looked lately, but I'm pretty sure Intel still manufactures mobos.

Just stating the fact they don't make AMD boards. Didn't know what the OP's intentions were.

They make some, not as much as they used to. More server based now I think.

Does anyone think we can go by published "failure rates".

Are these in themselves reliable, even if mentioned by particular model?
