Which computer part is the Most important?

If i was going to put more money into a certain piece which piece should that be?

What about the graphics card?

It's not as important as long as the mobo comes with good onboard graphics. If you want a gaming rig then you will want a graphics card. My onboard ATI Radeon 3100 is fine for the occasional game like Nexuiz, Frets on Fire, and Alien Arena. When you get into heavy gaming like COD4 or 5 is when you need to consider getting a graphics card.

im in the process of gettin a pc. ive never researched more in my life lol.
I understand so much more now thanks to this forum.

at the moment i am deciding on a q6600 or going the i7 route.

If i go the i7 route i think it will be more expensive because i would have to go with ddr3 which costs a lot more

no one part should have the most money spent on it---it should all be ballanced, good cpu in crap mobo will limit the cpu.

good mob crap cpu same affect.

If you're getting a high-end rig I'd recommend getting high end everything and not say a high end CPU, low end PSU, high end GPU, midrange Mobo, and a small amount of RAM (1GB for example.) If you got a low end PSU you'd have a decent rig until the PSU blows up. The RAM would make having an i7 useless because you'd quickly run out of RAM. So if you even everything out reasonably you should be good.

So far im thinkin i7 with 3x 2gig for 6 gigs, uh 4850 x2, etc.

But im not really 100% sure, I have so much research to do its crazy. Cause i just dont know. Not to mention everytime i make a thread or somethin i know you guys are probably like "Oh god, here is another one."

A while ago when i made my account and came on asking for my first build info i didnt know how big it was. I thought everyone asks things like that every once in a while But now that i have been here for a while i see so many "help me with my build" threads.

I use the search before i make new threads though. (It only makes sense)

One word of advice, pick the motherboard and processor you want first then go from there. I say pick the motherboard first then find a processor that is compatible with it.

Not necessarily... when I built my rig I knew I wanted a 64 X2 5000+, but then that was a budget build.

Just make sure you get a good modern mobo with a good modern socket so you'll have room for an upgrade in the future.

Oh i thought you were supposed to start with the processor. i dont even know what determines wether it can connect or not lol.

q6600 is cheaper but i would rather lean more to the future with an i7

You can start with either one, it's just important that they're compatible. There's a part on the mobo called the socket... that's what the CPU plugs into. As long as the CPU was made for the same socket as the mobo has built in it'll work.

If you do not have onboard video, then generally all the parts are just as important. Well except for the case, that would be the LEAST important, followed by the optical drive.

depends, what are you going to be putting into your computer, psu's aren't as efficient when they ahve almost zero load on them
