First, NO GAMING required... this is a Dell Vostro 200 stripper I use at home strictly for surfing the net that will never see anything more taxing than Minesweeper.
I have dual 22" Acer X221's 1680x1050 and am currently limited to one from the single integrated graphics VGA output. I've got a spare PCI-E slot and a 300watt power supply.
As I understand it, any PCIE graphics card that has dual ouputs of any kind... ie, a DVI and VGA will work as long as it's "dual head". But just about everywhere I look on spec sheets and what not the word "dual head" does not appear it won't just tell me in English it's capable.
I'd like this to be as clean and painless as possible, so I'd prefer the card have dual identical outputs and not require an adapter, and to keep power consumption down and because this thing will never be significantly tasked, a heat-sink will be sufficient. I've never had a DVI cabled computer... for my use, is there an advantge to a dual DVI card or will dual VGA sufficient (even if on of the VGA's is a on DVI adapter).
The cheapest dual DVI cards I've found are around $70... but they're still gamer cards (although weaksauce)... and I don't need them to be that powerful... just surf the net across 2 screens. Is there a dual DVI option for like $30? I have no brand loyalties. Thanks!
