Mother Board Question

Hi,

I would like to know which of the following mother board is the most powerful

1.) Intel Desktop Board D955XBK

2.) nVidia nForce 4 Intel with SLi

3.) Asus P5WD2P Premium Motherboard

I'm thinkin probably the mobo with the NF4 chipset that supports SLi...At least for the features that come with it. SLi requires a lot of quality parts to run efficiently so you can expect mostly everything on a NF4 based mobo to be top notch. The ASUS A8N SLi Deluxe is a good choice if you'd ever consider running an AMD based system. It's got plenty of SATA (x8), socket 939, onboard dolby digital audio, SLi support of course, and plenty of other goodies. Anyway, it seems like you are looking for an Intel chipset, so moving on....

When talking about the other Intel mobo's, assuming from the names that they are the newer 955x chipset, they have dual core processing capabilities for the new pentiums coming out. However there are very few programs that can take advantage of this technology at this time, including the DDR2 support (more coming in the future). It's not the best config for gaming due to the fact that games are mostly single threaded apps, so they need one dedicated proc to run it on...blah blah blah...These are very powerful mobo's if you're planning to build a system based on future configs, and are going to be running multi-threaded apps or doing a lot of multitasking (say like burning a DVD while running a powerful photo editing program such as PS CS). It depends on what you want to do, gaming or editing media etc. (although I have heard that any AMD mobo that can support the FX-55 series will be dual core compatible...so the ASUS A8N might fit that category woot woot! ;)...)

All bull crap aside...I'd say go with the NF4 SLi for all the features that it comes with...hope this helps

Thats not a motherboard. It's just a chipset

As for most powerful you'd be best off with the ASUS 955 board since you can then make use of DualCore processors. The advantage of Crush19 lies in SLI support ... but performance there isnt a measure of the motherboard but rather the video subsystem.
