Mother board with 8 pin cpu Power Connector

Hello;

I am looking to buy the Asus M5A97 AM3+ MB, but it has a 8 pin cpu power connector. Can I plug a 4 pin connecter in it and will it work. Or can you recommend a power supply that won't break my bank account that would have that 8 pin connecter.

Depends what CPU you want to run on the board, usually you only need to plug in the 8-pin connector if the CPU needs it. On my P7P55D-E I am running an i5 760 and whilst the board has an 8-pin plug, I'm running it with just one 4-pin connector plugged in (I have two on my PSU) and it's going good.

You should be OK running the 960T on the 4-pin connector. Try it, if it doesn't work properly, then you need a PSU with an 8-pin CPU power connector, and I meant to say "one 4-pin connector" in my first post (corrected it now).

As for a PSU with an 8-pin CPU connector, my PSU is an OCZ ZS Series 650W and it cost me £55, it's $89.99 on Newegg, here's the link.
