Motherboard and Lan adapter compatability question

What do you mean the lan jack is wearing out? The dlink card will work yes, however, if its slower, then there may be an issue with the card then.

I have to uninstall and re insert the rj45 cable and wiggle it to get it to work with any cable I try it cuts in and out. The D-LINK at first when I got it working was running fast but, then it slowed down. I don't know if it's a configuration problem or what? Thanks! should I disable the onboard lan when using the d-link?

Make sure you have the updated driver for the new card. You shouldn't have to disable the onboard but it may help. Visit the dlink website to see if they have an updated driver. If you installed the driver from the cd that came with the adapter, its usually old and outdated.
