so the mb i just gor (gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l) will beep at me. its not the pc will not boot warning beep or anything but it works great! it boots it loads etc. but for some reason it will beep. not every min but like 30 min then 2 hr later then 10 min. im not pressing anything. one thing i will try it to reset the bios to factory defalts but what else can it be?

also i was thinking could it be the power supply? i mean its a very old power supply (still good i mean 420 wats, raid max but it is like 8 years old) could the power supply be going slowly bad?

Brian, yes it could be a voltage problem from the old PSU, but you'd probably see other random symptoms as well. What kind of beeps does it give you? Do you notice any 'odd happenings' when they occur (or immediately before/after)?

Your MoBo's manual should have a list of beeps and what they mean in the Troubleshooting section - any info listed there? Did you do the BIOS reset yet?

Plus have you checked your CPU temps. It could be that the CPU heat warning set in the bios is close to or just right at what the CPU is running at after awhile and it will just set off a beep from time to time.

well its just a chirp. like 1/2 a sec. the temp is fine its about 70 idle if i recall and no the manual does not give me any info on the chirp. they only say about the post beeps. and not i nothing happened before or after. once i was installing windows the next it was just sitting there. nothing bad. worst comes to worst i take the board back and excange it. what do you say. A) take it back and get a new one and if it still happens, i get a new power supply, or B) just get a new power supply

I bet its 70C. 70F is like below room temp for the processor. You got water cooling and this thing setting in a refrigerater.:D

well i know its around 30C to i guess more in the 80's but trust me its not over heating at all.

We trust u :)
but with all seriousness, get under ur thehood of ur comp, and then replug in the led, pswrswitch, and CASE SPEAKER cable, might help, just wing it.

ok well yeah did all that, i got a new power supply (Ultra xvs 400w) for 10$ and it seems like the beeping has stoped... well knock on wood. also while talking about psu, that is the difference between 20 and 24 pin. like my motherboard can have eather but that is the advantage of haveing the 24?
