I a bit of a gamer and like to listen to music while surfing i am also going to get graphics card around 100 pound mark ( any suggestions ) with windows 7 64bit when looking for windows 7 i see there is an upgrade from XP to windows 7 is this ok or am i better off buying complete OS.

Many Thanks for any help or Suggestions

The so called XP to 7 "upgrade" is really just a new 7 install since there's no real upgrade like you could from say, Vista to 7. And new install is better anyways.

What PC are you upgrading and since your getting a GPU, what's the specs/info from the label on the power supply.

If this is a prebuilt computer from the XP era you'll most likey need a new system including power supply and case.

I bought this PC off of ebay about 5 - 6 years ago it was built by someone i have a 350 watt power supply is that ok?

Pick up an i3 21xx or 32xx and 8gb ram with a cheap board. The i3 is faster, better for gaming and normal apps.

You aren't going to get anywhere with a 350w PSU.

You'll need a new one, 500w minimum, and say for a good unit that should cost around £50-£60.

No, if he doesn't use a too heavy gpu it's enough. And an i3 uses less then the old less users.

£100 will get you something like a HD6870, or nVidia equivalent, which have a TDP of around 150w, stick the i3 on top of that, with a TDP of 65w, you're gonna need a 12v Rail with at least say 20A, thats really cutting it fine

Agreed, 26A is minimum for anyone with a PCIe graphics card installed and a brain in their head.
