well check this out. thinking i was clever, i tried to update my bios last night on my Intel 865PERL motherboard. i went to the intel site for other problems ive been having booting up and getting past post, as well as peripheral problems. after doing lots of tests, all my hardware is deemed good, so i figure ill check for bios update. sure enough, an extremely important, "crucial" in fact, update is available for my mobo runnin a p4 2.8 w/ ht. i update my bios. it basically freezes midway through the update, at the post screen (right on cue). now i have to recover bios. its been recovering for about 3 hours now, still chirping and reading the floppy. im pretty sure its stuck in infinite loop... well i look at the board itself after googling this bs for about 12 hours total, and what do i see?? bad caps!!! brown goo is growing out the top of several capacitors like stalagmites, and several others are bulging at the top!! now im debating on buying a new motherboard, or just gettin an amd system to upgrade to. my new radeon 9600pro is possibly fried too so im not sure if i should just get pci-e or stick with agp so i can play games in the meantime.
sorry i dunno how to get the pic to paste in here
