Motherboard Compatibility with Ram

I am trying to build a nice gaming computer on a semi-tight budget. The motherboard i was looking at is this one:

And i want to put this processor in it:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103773

However, i have been reading that only processors with the AM2+ socket work with the RAM that fits this board. Is this true, and if so, what are some ways i can get around it? I am kind of new to the computer building stuff, so i apologize if this is a noob question.

Some advice: Don't get AMD for gaming. Intel has much better performance and benchmarks than AMD.
