Motherboard Failure?

Does anyone know how to test if your motherboard dose not work

because i actually found a computer which to my surprise worked completely fine, it was a P4 2.66Ghz with 256 of ram

anyway FULL of programs
very slow deleted them all and cleaned it up

however i pulled it apart
and i turned it back on with a stick of 512Mb 400Mhz as opposed to the 266Mhz it had previously. it decided not to turn on and made a long beeping sound.

however after that i changed the power supply
and the motherboard refuses to show any picture what so ever
i have tryed both a 64MB AGP graphics card and the onboard graphics

the HDD led and Power Led both turn on at the front i havent check if the drives spin i just thought about it
if it helps i will go check in a minute

anyway... any sugestions

Try the old memory like mentioned above.
Also is it a brand named pc?
I worked on one that did the long none stop beep it was the board but test the memory first.
 
umm the drone was a 2 second drone or so
it is an EliteGroup motherboard

however i dont think it will help

i put the old ram back in straight away becuase it obviously wanst suported
and ever since the motherboad refuses to show any signal through the graphics card/s like at all
 
i really need help with this.
i want to use my computer soo bad.

i have recently discovered that the Onboard Graphics [VGA] connection can be
can be pulled off. with minimal force. comes off clean and i am not sure how to reconnect it - or if it is even worth trying to fix

also with the on board VGA not even connected shouldnt i still be able to use a different graphics card for display??

Anything could be the cause..

age, heat, cold, usage, non-usage, faulty piece, defect...etc..

Brand new motherboards can be dead on arrival...so many possible factors, after all it is man-made electronics assembled in a lab somewhere.
