Assuming that you're a resident of the United States.
I would suggest a Giga-Byte motherboard.
I have had absolutly no problems with any Giga-Byte motherboard.

My recommendation being the following motherboard.
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128337
Price: $89.99

Though this motherboard is $60 under your budget, it has great features (see link) and great reviews. This motherboard has also been able to overclock the E8400 very well around 3.5Ghz+

Hope this helps. :)

Though i do agree with the suggestion of Gigabyte brand, the P35 Chipset is not natively compatible with 45nm CPUs, you will have to get an X38 chipset such as this

I'm sorry but there are 2 things wrong with that reply.
1. The P35 is compatible with 45nm CPUs. (You don't need a bios update)
2. The product link you provided was an open box product.

Anything that's 45nm compatible will work. Some motherboards require a CMOS/BIOS flash however, like the P31 and P35 series. The X38, x48, 780i, ect, do not.

You also will need to look into what RAM you will be using. DDR2 or DDR3?

definetely the asus p5q, from all reviews they took the best of my motherboard, the asus p5k and made it even better, its a no-brainer.

i was planning on ddr2 but i really have no reasoning to pick it, i dont even know the difference. recommendation?

if you're not going to do multi GPU, then the best chipsets are p35 or p45. i would get a p45 because they are newer technology, offers more features, and overall better NB and SB

But you have a reason not to go with DDR3. The price to performance stinks. The cas latency is too high to do see a good enough gain in performance from good ol' DDR2.
