Motherboard for core 2 duo

I have noticed that the general consensus around here is that the Gigabyte 965P-DS3 is the best motherboard for the intel duo. How much better is it than the 945PL-S3?

Is the ASUS P5VD2-MX any good, and is there anything it can't do? it's cheaper than both gigabyte models, so im hoping that it's just as good. The website http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=0&model=1200&modelmenu=1 only mentions single channel memory, does any one know if it is capable of using dual channel DDR2?

Just read http://www.legionhardware.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=733 i guess my question about the asus motherboard has been answered. Anyhooo, im still interested about the gigabyte motherboards for the c2d, or any other good ones.

Gigabyte GA-965P DS3 or ASUS P5B are good Core 2 Duo boards.

The least you want to go with is a 965 chipset, the 945 chipset has much less features, as well as not supporting as many future processors.
