Im building a new computer for a studio. I will be using it for recording/production uses. Im going to get an intel core 2 duo 1.86Ghz and 2GB of RAM. I have no idea what a good motherboard would be for music. Any ideas???

Wouldnt it be primarily the sound card that will be used to make the comp a good sound pc? If your not overclocking, coulcn't you just aget a cheap mobo and spend your extra money on ACTUAL sound equipment?

Exactly. Eventually im going to get a firewire interface for recording. I just wasnt sure if a sound card would make all the difference. Also, wouldnt a good motherboard help maintain my cpu's stability, im going to generally be running fl studio.

Well, a sound card won't really make a difference at all, seeing as you'll be using it to record music, not so much as playing music. Really, all you need is a decent PC, like $400, and spend the rest of your budget on recording equipment, which is what really matters.
