Motherboard help and suggestions

I just built a system using the EVGA 790i motherboard. My computer crashes and freezes A LOT. I also read a lot of the reviews on newegg about it and talked to a guy about the motherboard and they all say the same thing; it crashes/freezes a lot.

I plan on returning it in hopes of getting a better quality and more reliable motherboard. What high performance motherboard would you guys recommend that is more reliable then the EVGA 790i motherboard? I will be using this computer for video editing and gaming. Since I spent $350 on the 790i board, price really isn't an object.

I was thinking about the XFX 780i motherboard. Would that be a good option? It has a much higher percentage of good reviews on new egg then the EVGA 780i and 790i motherboards.

A guy I was talking to said I should stay away from the nvidia chipset boards and go with something different. Do you guys agree? If I were to do that, what good high performance and reliable options are out there?

Here’s a list of specs I will need the motherboard to fit:

-DDR2 OR DDR3 memory
-SLI Ready (Would like it, but not a must have)
-LGA 775 socket (I have the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700, I am going to try to get the Q9450 one)
-PCI Express x16 2.0 (I have the EVGA 9800 GTX graphics card)
-I will be using Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

well the 790i motherboards are supposed to be very very stable. are you sure you have it narrowed down to motherboard as the problem?
anyway if your going to get a new motherboard try the Asus Rampage
or the Asus Maximus

About 15%-20% of the reviews on newegg say the board crashes and randomly freezes a lot (Not just EVGA, all 790i boards). I even personally talked to a guy who had a 790i motherboard and he too had the same problem of it randomly freezing and it fixed its self once he replaced the board.

I was just looking at the ASUS Rampage board. It looked very nice and had good reviews. Although it doesn't support SLI, it looks tempting.
