I purchased an Asus P8Z77-V LX mb to go with my Intel i-5 -3570K CPU.
The mb doesn't work. Won't recongize ram and on board video does not work.
Tried different ram and everything. So I'm returning it. I found one on Newegg that is within my price range but if I send for it I also will need a video card. What does anyone think of this mb?

and can you suggest a video card that will work with it? Price range $25. to $50. I only need one for general web surfing, games like Bejeweled ect. and some photo stuff.

The mb is on special sale until midnight tonight PT time. I'm in Central time zone.
So Please help as soon.
Thanks,

your better off staying with Z77. A UD3H should be in the same price range. The Extreme 4 is also, but don't buy it.

Re; wolfeking. Thanks for answering so soon. I can return the Asus by mail but they will not send me a replacement. I bought it at the same time I bought the cpu and got $50.
off of the mb with in store pick up.I was going up to Indianapolis so I made a detour to Cincinnatti to pick it up. I live in TN, so driving to return or exchange it is not going to happen. So returning it is going to cost losing the $50. discount. The one from Newegg is on sale for $89.99 with promo code.
Can you suggest a mb that will fit my needs for under $100.
Thanks Again

your simply not going to find one. $100 is the land of hold over boards. They are not meant to run overclocked (what the k series is built to do), nor to have a bunch of features. Plus it will be with a H61 or H77 chipset that will limit the memory speed and lock out overclocking.

Re; wolfeking, so if the i-5k is meant for overclocking and I'm not going to overclock then
did I make a mistake on buying the i-5k ? Should I try to sell it and get something else or even stick with the Asus P5Q mb/E8400 cpu that I have now. One of the reasons I bought the i-5 and Asus mb was so I could give my P5Q to my friend who has an old Dell
Dimension 2400.

You did not make a mistake by buying it, but you could have saved some money on it. I am still not going to suggest that you spend $100 or less on a motherboard. It is a very bad idea. Even some of the boards just more than that, like the extreme 4 are bad ideas. You really want a gigabyte board with a Z68 or Z77 chipset. P67, as far as I know, will not work with 3rd generation processors.

O.k. thanks, I'll keep looking then for a mb with the Z68 or Z77 chipset.Maybe one will come on sale at Newegg soon. I'd look on ebay but I'm not to crazy about buying used.
If I lived closer to a big city would help but even Nashville is over 2 hrs. away.
I really appriciate all your help.

I purchased an Asus P8Z77-V LX mb to go with my Intel i-5 -3570K CPU.
The mb doesn't work. Won't recongize ram and on board video does not work.
Tried different ram and everything.
Can you know that the lack of video is the fault of the mb if the RAM doesn't work?
Do we need to see exactly what RAM has been used?

The ram is micro center brand (DDR3/1333mhz/CL9/Dual/2x2gb) I also tried a (Kingston/DDR3/1333mhz/CL9/4gb)from staples.
I think I have found out why the mb is giving me problems. I removed it from the case to make sure there was no shorts or anything, removed cpu and looked real close at the socket. In the very right hand corner it had a shiney dot. got out high powered flashlight and looked closer. It looks like a bent pin. (no, I don't think it was my fault as I was super careful installing the cpu)So I'm going to contact store again and see if they will send me a replacement, if not I'll contact Asus.Does anyone have any other suggestion?
Thanks to all
