motherboard help

Hey all I am having a problem with one of my computers. I think i might need a new motherboard. I really am not sure. My computer knowledge is limited, so I hope this question is easy to answer.

I was browsing the internet when the internet just stopped working. Windows XP displayed the Area Network cable is unplugged logo in the task bar. I checked my cable modem,cables, router and other computers and everything was working fine. No new drivers or anything. I then checked the back of my computer and the green light in the Ethernet port was no longer on. (it was always on when working) I think the part of the motherboard that accepts the Ethernet cable has failed. The LAN onboard the motherboard is this.

Do I need to replace the motherboard so I can plug my Ethernet into the computer and have it work?

Go to your device manager and find your LAN port and see if there a yellow exclamation point next to it. If so click update driver and see if it reinstalls the driver, if not click uninstall and reboot the computer and see if it reinstalls the driver. If worse comes to worse and it has failed you dont have to replace the board. The make PCI LAN cards.
