Motherboard help

Will you be using all of those PCIe lanes? If you aren't going to be using 3 video cards at any point, you can save some by getting a board with only 2 PCIe x16 lanes

Aastii Motherboard

Aastii, what is specific about MB M4A79XTD? I note this MB is shown on all your mail. I am currently looking at MB M4A77TD, is the $28.00 difference worth it?

Toshiyori, are you talking about the Asus M4A79XTD Socket AM3 Motherboard? If so that is a motherboard that is compatible with an Advanced Micro Devices processor. Intel processors will not work with a Socket AM3 motherboard.

Yes, I am referencing ASUS M4A79XTD. I am in the process of building a Desktop and considering components. I currently have a Cooler Master 600 case, then after getting the fans & control I'll go after the rest. So, Im reviewing all possible "Mid Range" components. I have no intent of overclocking, all the family is use to XP Home so I'll load that OS. Knowing the reliability of ASUS I am looking that direction, +- $100.00, CPU @ 1.5 MHz, FSB 1000 MHz+ I review all probabilities, I'm in no hurry.

The M4A79XTD is a 790X chipset and the M4A77TD is a 770 chipset.

This. Because it is 770 rather than 790X, it has integrated graphics, which 770 doesn't, which would better suit your needs because from what you said you want, you aren't going to be gaming I assume, so graphics isn't a biggy. The layout is also different, I much prefer the layout of mine because of where the SATA ports are, IDE port and (this is very small, but one of my favourite features of my board) the mechanism for holding the card into the PCIe lane is more conventional on the M4A77TD, not the clip that is on the M4A79XTD EVO

Looking through, you can't get a board without 3 way SLI which has all of the features of the board you linked unless it is mATX, but then the price is still very similar. Although it will probably be wasted, you will end up having it anyway.

The only one I can find, if you aren't bothered about form factor, that would save you money, get rid of the 3 way SLI, yet still retain the features of the gigabyte board, is this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188051

Which is $180 after MIR

Personally I would spend the extra to get the gigabyte one you linked, or:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188068

which is $10 less than the gigabyte that you posted
