Motherboard limiting my clock?

My motehrboard is pretty cheap, i cant lower my VCore, cant adjust northbridge voltage, and my maximum FSB is 300. And i think this is what is limiting my new cpu and its overclock (aswell as heat:eek:) I cant seem to get the computer to POST with a the FSB 290 or any higher, but 280 is fine. So i tried to boot up with a FSB of 300 and a multiplier of 8 - so the cpu was 2.4GHz (which i know the cpu can reach) and the PC wouldnt post. So i am thinking that my motherboard cant handle this high FSB. Am i right in thinkinh so? And would it be a good idea to try and get a cheap DFI NF4 ultra off of ebay? as these are the best 939 boards possible?

Your thoughts?

Well as you probably know, The HT bus affects more than just the CPU clock speed it also effects your RAM. Have you attempted to lower the divider on the RAM, reducing the strain? Other than that it sounds like your typical FSB wall. Buying a new motherboard might help, as long as you do your research on the specific motherboard.

Also, my motherboard used to require (before a BIOS flashed changed it) F1 to be pressed in the BIOS menu, to see the RAM divider and a couple other options. It's possible your motherboard also employs such safeguards.

Mines the same way... I have a unlocked multiplier and a good overclocking settings. I went 2.0 to 2.3ghz, I think i've reached my ceiling because my V-core is locked

I set my HT multiplier to 3x so there is no problem there, and i also set my memory divider 10 166 MHz, so no problem there, however my memory can handle the 280 FSB with a 1:1 divider anyway :D

The DFI ultra NF4 is like the best i am led to belive
