Motherboard max RAM

Hi, i have w26361 w1752 x 02 motherboard, with dual core and, in windows it says i have 512 intergrated graphics (nVidia). It also has 2 x 1 gig ram. However in bios i can only choose up to 256 mg for the graphics. Although i am satisfied with 256, i would like to know if the mother board can take more ram, say 2 x 2 gig, or 1 x 2 and a 1 x 1 sticks? I have in know 2 x 1GB 2Rx8 PC2 - 5300U - 12 - E3, Samsung. If this is possible, im was wondering what i should ask for at the store, and not get ripped off being a noob as it were.

Any ideas on the graphics would be much appreciated too.

Thanks in advance :)

There is various versions of that Fujitsu mobo. Can you please download PC Wizard (from my sig) and run it and then go to file, save as and click ok. Copy the text out of that file into this thread.

Thanks for quick reply...

I took 1 stick out to see what kind and have not put it back yet.

Ok thanks. Have you any ideas why i cannot choose higher than 256 in the bios, but it says 512 in windows?

I dont use the machine for games, i run an old version of Autocad/2007, but i get annoying slowdown while rendering objects. Is it possible its related to the CPU also? Its supposed to be dual cpu tho??

Something else that crossed my mind was to disable the onboard gfx and put another card in, i dont think i need more than 512meg mem. Any suggestions on cards would be great, thanks.

It all depends. The onboard may have 256 dedicated memory and then it may reserve 256 is system memory for it as well. I would just add a dedicated video card if its got the slot for it.

It has three slots, 2 white, 1 black that is longer.

Sorry but i havent messed with this type of thing since Pentium 75! and forgotten most of the terminologies. Heh the last gfx card i put in was 1meg orchid!

I would like to stay with GForce, or perhaps go ATI. Any suggestions on one thats 512?
My budget is tight also, Thanks.

See here is the issue.. Your processor only has 1MB of LvL 2 cache. When you run any type of Auto CAD, then you will be bottle-necking your processor causing lag spikes and rendering issues. The bottle-necking comes from Auto CAD throwing the processor all its information, when the CPU can't process it in time.

Your processor is socket LGA 755.

The other weakness is the integrated graphics that is in the chipset. However, if you run 2D only, then you should be fine. If you run 3D then your card is below the requirements of the 2007 version of CAD. The reason your BIOS is showing 256, is because, that is what the dedicated amount of VRAM is on the chip itself. 512 is coming from shared memory.

Edit: I can't find the motherboard anywhere.. That very well could be a AGP slot, or a PCI-e slot.

Thanks, i understand. I have fallen so far behind with the hardware issue im a noob again.

I used to run it on a Laptop fine but it packed up on me, with my budget the way it is i was given the Desktop for nothing. I have the option of trading or selling it with no hard feelings if i must. Is there anything i can tweak or purchase cheap enough to get it up to speed? Or could you tell me what i could expect in the hand for it / or how much trade in... without getting ripped off? heh. If the latter is my best option, can you tell me what kind of system ide need, in a Desktop sense as i am able to work at home now.

If i remember correctly, i thought 128meg gfx would do the job ok, that is why i was happy with the 256 i mentioned earlier. Anyway as you say the cache isnt up to it, and by the sounds of things more RAM would be pointless too. Which was my original Q related to the chipset.

Any/all feedback is greatly appreciated, thankyou.
