I have a problem with my desktop pc which was built by my brother 6 months ago. Some times when booting it up, It will make a single beep and continue on to load the os. Other times it doesn't beep and doesn't boot up and no video sent to monitor, but the fans turn on.
I first thought it was a memory issue, so the next time it didnt boot up I took out one of the four sticks, and it booted up fine. I thought I had located the problem in the stick of memory, but several days later when I tried to reboot the problem returned. Whenever the problem occurs, I just take out memory, or rearrange it, trying to isolate a problem port or stick but there is no consistency. The computer boots up normally after one or two rearrangements of the memory but there is no one arrangement which offers better results. Im not even sure that rearranging the memory is responsible for it booting up.
So This is where Im at now. Where do I go from here?
