Hi,

I just got to acquire this Biostar P4M800-M7A motherboard which has support for Dual-Core processors from what I gathered from here and some other sites. Basically, it shows the below,

# Supported Processors:
# Intel Pentium 4 and Celeron D Socket 775 processors
# Supports Dual Core CPU

I paired it up with an Intel E2220 Pentium Dual-Core Desktop Processor. I've never tested both before and they're in new conditions.

Upon switching the system on, it just won't boot. No sound, no visual, nothing. Are the chipset and motherboard compatible? If they are not compatible, after they're paired up, will it result in spoiling anything? The motherboard itself, the chip or both?

I'm really at a lose. Have no idea whats wrong.. Appreciate any feedback, thanks!!

E2220 is a Pentium Dual-Core, not Pentium 4/Celeron D. Apparently the board doesn't support (some of) the C2Ds, but it can be as simple as updating the BIOS.

Appreciate your input hackapelite!

Now, with no P4/Celeron D chip for me to test my motherboard nor a Pentium Dual-Core motherboard to test my chip.. I really need to know if matching both incompatible technologies will spoil either part.

Anyone has any idea if I have spoilt anything by doing the above?

Thanks!!

I wouldn't think so. Even if it would be possible, it's extremely unlikely unless you've put in a component that draws so much power it fries the MoBo - the E2220, however, being lower end, should draw nowhere near enough power to fry even an el cheapo board.
