motherboard problem

gooday, last night i swapped two motherboards over into each others cases, and now my asus p5kpl-am/ps doesn't power up, what is happening is i press the on button and i get power for a split second, the power supplies in both casers are the same brand and model, i messed around a bit even doing the screw driver touching the "on button pins" trick, same results as with the power button installed...

i decided that my fan needed a clean and to remove this easily i unplugged the 4 pin power plug from the motherboard to get it out of the way, later i again turned on the power button and this time the power stayed on, the button lit up and the fans were working properly, just one problem, i had not yet reconnected the 4 pin power plug back into the motherboard....

when i reconnect the 4 pin power plug to the board, once again the power cant be turned on for any more than half a second.

does anyone know what problem this signifies ?

problem half solved, i swapped the power units from both computers, the one that wouldnt start now starts, and the other computer starts as well, which i find strange because both power units are identical, both are the same brand, model and wattage, one works in both computers and the other only works in one computer...

but for some reason , my usb system doesn't work, i did reset my bios, and now i dont seem to have an option to enable the usb system, oh well, ill find a cure for it im sure.
