Motherboard Replacement

I recently had a bad rootkit that ravaged my system. At this point Windows is barely functioning so I decided to take advantage of the 7 upgrade. In addition to that my motherboard has to broken SATA ports and two broken USB ports. I was going to replace it with the same model but it's no longer sold. What would you say the current equivalent is?

ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

Rest of system:

1 x Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80570E8400

2 x G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ

3 x Western Digital Caviar Blue WD2500AAKS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Good 775 boards are hard to come by. There are no good ones being made anymore, so you'll have to find a used one.

You'll likely not find an X48 board unless you are willing to pay over $200 for one. My suggestion is to find a P45 board, the P5Q series.

I highly recommend the Asus P5Q-E, or P5Q-Deluxe, both excellent boards and more than enough replacement for your setup.

The P5Q-Pro is also pretty good, my only issue with it is that it doesn't have 90 degree sata ports....not sure how much that matters to you-

Or if you really want another Rampage formula, throw this guy an offer-

^^Note that he's in Bulgaria so shipping will take awhile.

Sell those parts and build a new system like me! Surprisingly enough, I only spent $400 of my own money or so but look at the system I have now!

87dtna's word is damn near gold btw.

It's definitely not a bad idea. E8400's are still going for decent change, and stick the rampage formula on ebay ''as is'' and you'd still probably get a hundred bucks for it. Plus an update to 4 or 8gb of ddr3 would help in games, 2gb really isn't enough anymore.

The gts450 is still good, but a new cpu, mobo, and ram would be a nice upgrade. I'd probably even recommend the same thing I did to ChrisUlrich here, an I5 2500k, and ASrock Extreme 4 or 6, and an 8gb kit of Rip Jaws 1600.
