I have a compaq 4409CL that the motherboard fried on and I would just like to replace it. How can I get one to fit the case I already have?

The events

1. The case was loaded with dust.
2. Error message CPU fan not working.
3. It shut down.

The computer would not come back on after that.

The power supply burnt up. You could smell it. I bought a new one and it still want work, so I am asuming the motherboard has fried.

Any help would be appreciated.

Simple just go to a PC repair shop explain to them whats happened and they will fit another motherboard, for a price though ;)

OK,

I want to fix it myself, and I need to get a mother board that will fit the case I have. How can I do this? It is a Compaq 4409CL

You dont really need to measure the case, all mother boards are designed to fit all towers. Unless you have a special bilt case by your computer brand that only makes there cases the size for there stuff only.

Really?

Maybe you would like to correct that statement by saying all atx towers fit atx motherboards.

A micro atx case not going to fit a atx motherboard.

Also... the MB might fit the case, BUT does the CD Drive then fit aswell? You may find that the MB fit well but connectors/ram/heatsinks/etc may stick out to far and stop you installing a CD/DVD drive flush with the front pannel.... It happened to me once

You could also look on ebay for a replacement mobo, or just contact compaq and see how much they say it would be to be replaced.

Just do what Lord AnthraX said and if you just have to put it in ask if they know of any mobo's that would fit into the case. Im sooo glad my compaq computer hasnt fried :P
