a few nights ago my friend was really drunk and he kept trying to tell me something about motherboard standoffs and how i needed them for the computer I was building. I'm not totally sure what they are and if i need them. can somebody help?

Motherboard: Asus sabertooth z77

Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-1

Yes you need them.

They are little posts that seperate the board from the case, therefore stopping the board being shorted on the case.

Drunk or not, you'll be glad once they are in place :)

They go between the case motherboard plate and the motherboard, just under the grounded motherboard holes.

my case already has some simliar looking brass things inside the case, did it come with standoffs? If not can someone link me to where i can get some? Thanks!

Just make sure there's 1 standoff per mb hole and no extras. Don't scratch the back of the mb on them while lining it up with the I/O shield.

Most cases come with standoffs, it sounds like yours did. Just make sure you only put them under the grounded holes, they will have a metal circle around them.
