motherboard to i/o shield

I've just built my first pc and it started up successfully and went to BIOS fine. But the motherboard to I/O shield doesn't look right.

The metal "lines" around every port(not sure what should I call them haha) as in the "springy" bit is visible from outside the case. They don't seem to be in the right place. Also the I/O shield can be pushed in abit and it just bounces back out again.

Did you replace the I/O shield that came with the case with the one supplied with the motherboard? Also, it should push all the way in and then you screw it down to the motherboard stands.

Sounds like it's in backwards if the "springy" things are facing out.

No, the springy things are inside, but I'm able to see them, they don't seem to be touching or clipping anywhere and I don't know if they should be. The I/O shield is still springy though, if I push it from the outside of the case it bounces and then back. I just don't know if this is normal.

Also, 24 Celsius is a normal temperature for the CPU in BIOS right ? I have a i5 3570k + 212 evo.

It's normal. Don't worry too much about how it looks as you won't be seeing it that much and yes, that temperature is fine.

Yeah your shield is fine then. Sometime when you install the motherboard you might bend the springy part the wrong way and it will end up outside of the case. I've had this happen to me. Temps are fine as well. As long as everything lines up okay you should be fine.
