motherboard wont post

hi can anyone help me i have a new build my motherboard is a asus m2n32-sli deluxe i build it all up but no post it has a 24 power suply and a atx 12v when i power on the computer gose to boot up and after 4 to 5 seconds it goses off there is a green light on the motherboard i have tryed it just with the menory in and out i was told to put the motherboard on a bit of carboard and conect the power supply and the memory but nothing works is my motherboard dead it is only 3 days old

1 gb memory
160 hardrive
geforce 7600 gt card

If you made sure the 12v four wire cpu feed was plugged and since the green power led is lighting up you most likely received a bad board. You could try setting the board up on a non conductive surface with only memory and video card and cpu of course installed to see it happens to be groundiing out on the chassis of the case. You might have to use non conductive washers to mount the board if found good.
