Motherboard?

Hi, I recently purchased the Dimension E521 and I want to know what kind of motherboard it has. I've searched, but cant find an answer.

I finally went to Dell's tech support, and he told me this:

"The Dimension E521 system board is a four-layer, BTX-compatible board based on the NVIDIA® GeForce® 6150-LE / NVIDIA nForce® 430 chipset. This system board supports the AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors."

So....what brand/model is that?

Any help/advice would be great, Thanks.

It's a Dell, so it's a proprietary board made for them. One of the giveaways is that well...its a Dell, and also that it's BTX form factor.

Download CPU-Z it'll tell u under the MAINBOARD, MODEL part. hope that helps.

BTW this is just personal but I recommend u neva buy another Pre built computer again they really suck and are a rip off always better to get it built even if u donno how to do it. pay someone else, its usually really cheap for building fee's.

I'm pretty sure Dell's use Dell motherboards with intel chipsets. But as mentioned, CPUz will tell you everything you need to know.

Most do, however that is a Dell model that uses an Athlon 64 ;)

It should still be a Dell designed/manufactured motherboard though. If you are looking to replace it and keep your CPU you'll have a lot of problems finding another board that fits, I don't know of any BTX AMD boards on the market.

Yep, Dell use their own Motherboards, usually with Nvidia or Intel chipsets with integrated Graphics, and BTX format.

Basically, you're stuck if you want to upgrade the motherboard and want to keep the same case ect.
