i want to upgrade my motherboard so i can add graphics and sound card but i can't tell the difference between the ones for sale on ebay:confused:

if you want to upgrade your graphics

look for one with a pci x16 2.0 slot, thats the newer slots

for your sound, look for one with 8 channel sound
or a open pci slot, so you can put a sound card in it, all motherboreds come with sound installed on them

also look at how much ram it can hold, i would find one with 4 gigs being the very least, what cpu socket it takes, 775 and 1333 are new for intel, and am2 and am2+ are good for AMD systems,

First of all tell us what processor you have and what your budget is...that will give us a good idea of what motherboard you will need. then we can start looking for sales on motherboards.

Also...be aware that upgrading the motherboard will most likely involve a new installation of your operating system. Then of course you might need new RAM and a new graphics card. One component leads to another and the bill can add up quick:)
