Motorola modem problem

I have new laptop Fujitsu Amilo V 2085 with Win XP + SP2. Instaling drivers from original manufacturer CD everything is ok but i have a problem with installed Motorola SM56 modem. Drivers are version 6.10.6.0. and in device manager, system reports that device can not start ( error code 10). Looking at net for advice, i only found advice to reinstall driver. I choose various drivers for mentioned modem but not works. Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?

hmmm.... have you taken the drivers from the official motorola website ?

From what I have read in the troubleshooting sections, it might be a problem wit your COM ports (if they are already used ?)...

I can not set the port for it, how to force this modem to use the port?

If the modem installs on COM
5 or higher you can manually force the modem onto a different COM port using the SM56 Helper
application (COM Ports tab) in the Windows System tray (just to the right of the Task Bar).
