mouse acting up....

might as well go with a combo i was kind of looking at the logitech mx4000 keyboard and mouse.

right now my mx1000 is acting up. whenever i try to click something sometimes it will think that i double clicked or something and sometimes i click once to close a window and it closed that and the window under it

Sounds like a sticky contact under the left button! Often wear and tear will either make it harder to click or you get the stuck down type problem. The spring to raise the button back up may have lost the tension needed. You will have to take a close look sideways at it while pressing it to see if it is staying down somewhat. Usually when a mouse or trackball acts up here it's time to say good bye to it. Yet Logitech is one of the better makes.

The place there was around the left button itself to see if it was staying down instead of springing back up after clicking on something. That would show if the spring type tension was any good. That would be one way the contacts would stick seeing the double on single click problem. Besides the buttons, scroll wheel if any, and the rubber or optical type track ball there isn't much of any "moving parts" inside a mouse.

the left button is slightly higher than the right click side.

i'm planning to buy another keyboard/mouse combo. any good ones and affordable?

There are a large variety of keyboard/mouse combos, gaming mice, internet/multimedia type or gaming keyboards to shop through. The main thing to start off with is preferences and budget. If you have large hands and longer fingers the "usual" mouse or even touch pads seem a little "tiny" at times. That can make things like gaming even a bit awkward.

Styles and features are next on the list. "Does your led lit mouse go with your case?" would be a typical thought there. How many buttons if programmable do you want? If you are not looking for "ELABORATE" it mainly will depend on what you consider affordable. Tight Budget? Try $15-$74 for varying keyboards at http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=63&name=Keyboards

For individual mice try $2.25 upto $145.99 in the ten pages at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&Nty=1&N=2010290065&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=65

Once a mouse or keyboard starts acting up after any good period of time you have to assume that the wear & tear has done it's job and the time has come for retiring either or both. One look at the views seen on the mx1000 shows that you would have to remove the pads on the bottom to hopefully find phillips head screws instead of snap tabs there. http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/review1820.html

For the mx4000 there was no listing found anywhere. But there is a mx5000 Bluetooth combo available. The details on this model are seen at http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2158,CONTENTID=10776 For a look at the $115- price seen at newegg, http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?SCriteria=3800734

i just checked the bottom and those shoes arent even rubber it is just stickers. i can try and maybe clean it and fix the problem :)

i did fix the laptop mouse in a similar way(left click wont work because wire was on top of the button :)

Once you open it up you will have to contend with the circuit card inside along with the wiring and emitter. Those will have to be carefully moved aside to get at the assembly where you should see a plastic piece that reaches down with a little contact circle on the end. That reaches down and touches the card where two leads are nothing more then traceways on the circuit card itself. Or it may be a momentary switch seen there. If that's no longer any good... ?

i got it working. i just clean the gap between the two sides there are dusts between those. once inside i removed the wire that charges the battery and the other wire to the circuit board. the problem is probably there's enough dust trapped within the gaps so that when i click it doesnt go all the way :).

Just a little debris to make you day there! Those cans of compressed always seem to have some application. I still prefer to stay with the corded models here. But you saved some cash by trying that out before rushing out for another. :)

to open the mous i had to penetrate the sticker so now since it is working but the sticker is broken so it doesnt move as smoothly as before since the surface is kinda not so flat :)

And under the stickers were the typical phillips head screws I imagine. You may be able to look in a retail store for those small stickers in different colors to replace the originals there. That will again see a smooth scrolling surface for the most part. A small package of those usually goes for what 79cents? You just have to find the ones that won't peel off fast.
